VIII. Regional District and Convention Proposal – Bob Bryant
In the February 29, 2012 meeting, the Commissioners voted to recommend to TABS that we alternate one-day Regional Conferences with the Annual Statewide Conference. This would begin in 2014. The TABS Officers approved the recommendation at the Convention. Currently, there are 5 to 7 clusters of schools that could serve as Regionals. After review of the location of TABS schools there was much discussion over the number of regions and the areas each should serve. In an effort to conserve resources and provide relevant professional development, the following proposals to TABS were adopted.
Proposal: Four regions be created named North (located centrally around the Dallas area), Central (located centrally around the Waco/Austin area), South (located centrally around Houston area), and West (located centrally around the Lubbock area).
Freddie Cullins moved the proposal to TABS be adopted; Second by Kevin Thames; Unanimously Approved.
Proposal: A one day Regional conference will be held in place of a statewide conference every other year beginning with the 2013-14 school year. The date can be selected by the host school. Each school has the option to attend any conference.
