Our History

Formation of ACTABSIn 1985, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) ceased to accredit non-public schools. To provide for the accreditation of non-public schools, the TEA Approved the formation of the Texas Private School Accreditation Commission (TEPSAC). This umbrella organization consists of twelve accrediting agencies. The Accreditation Commission of the Texas Association of Baptist Schools (ACTABS) is recognized as one of the twelve founding Accrediting agencies of TEPSAC.

In March, 1985, a group of administrators from Baptist Schools joined together to form ACTABS. Membership in the Texas Association of Baptist Schools (TABS) is required for a school to seek accreditation with ACTABS.
