ACTABS Rolls Out ACTS Teacher Evaluation System

In 1985, Carnegie Corporation funded a massive movement to establish a nationwide certification of teachers, entitled the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, or NBPTS. This quickly became the state-of-the-art method for certifying teachers, with 42 states signing on as accepting those teachers who have shown accomplished performance to the most rigorous standards in the profession.
In turn, in 1986 the state of Texas increased its standards for teacher evaluation, called PDAS or Professional Development and Assessment System. Many ACTABS schools have been using this method to evaluate its teachers.
In 2003, having worked as both an assessor and trainer in the NBPTS system and evaluated teachers using PDAS for a number of years, Bob Bryant merged these two systems and added a standard for Christian Worldview, based upon his 27 years of Christian School experience. This compilation of these various systems, has produced the most rigorous, but teacher development driven evaluation system on the market. And ACTABS is pleased to be the first school association to recommend it to its schools.
